Kathleen Sawtell
Associate Attorney
Civil Litigation
Kathleen is an associate attorney at Smith Pauley, where she focuses her practice on civil litigation. Her clients have included small, family-run businesses, regional companies, and Fortune 100 corporations across a wide range of industries.
Prior to joining Smith Pauley, Kathleen practiced at highly regarded law firms in Indianapolis, where she gained extensive experience in the areas of employment law, insurance defense, criminal law, administrative law, and civil litigation. This background has equipped Kathleen with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop effective strategies for addressing complex legal challenges and delivering positive outcomes to clients. An Omaha native, Kathleen obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from Creighton University before attending law school at Indiana University. Kathleen is admitted to practice law in all Indiana state and federal courts, further expanding the jurisdictional area in which Smith Pauley is able to serve clients.
When she’s not advocating fiercely for her clients, Kathleen enjoys spending time with her husband cheering on their favorite teams (Go Big Red!), exploring new places through travel, and unwinding with a good book. At home, she recharges by relaxing with her dogs and occasionally indulging in a Netflix reality show or two—because even high performers need a little downtime.
